Repairs

What does a crane service mean? Whats involved? and is it really worthwhile?

Crane servicing to the most part is focused around a few things checking and inspecting adjustment and lubrication and great advice depending on who is servicing you're machine can change a lot.

If it is a wire rope hoist it is preferable that the technician knows how many broken strands a rope can have and how much wear a rope can have as well.

If its a chain hoist they must know the stretch of the chain and how much wear a chain can have where the links connect.

Adjustment of brakes is actually not so easy because all brakes are different even on some brands knowing the allowable air gap and knowing how to adjust is a fine tuned task.

Checking wheel flanges and wear on geared wheels.

Checking the collectors for wear.

Checking wear components including pendant stations.

Additionally and probably most importantly is being able to detect a problem before it becomes bad extremely important is it that the technician can listen to a machine be familiar with it and be able to make good judgment whether everything behind the casings is really o.k

General Repairs

These can be classified as planned works.

For example a rope and guide that need their parts changed have been ordered and there is a day and time set for this job to be done.

Or that there might be some damaged buttons on the pendant of the crane or you need a new remote….. so some works can be called general even though unscheduled, however it can change with severity of the issue.

Emergency Repairs

This is fairly simple and comes down to two things:

SOMETHING HAS GONE TERRIBLY WRONG!

Example…. There a motor hanging off the crane about to fall on someone

Or:

Something has stopped working with a load on it and you’re losing a huge amount of money. This is more likely the case and we cater to a lot of this sort of work as it is what we specialise in.
